Plagiocephaly is a growing skull deformation caused by mechanical pressure from any part before, during or after childbirth.

The bones of the cranial vault and base of the fetus, baby and infant less than three months are still poorly ossified and are separated from each other by sutures and fontanelle. If for some reason are excessive and continuous pressure, it is interfered with normal growth and can cause deformation.

To prevent postural deformities of the skull in newborns and infants are several proposals. Sleeping position: sleeping is a major postnatal factors predisposing to have cranial deformities,
so it is recommended that the father and mother combine strict supine position (face up at the ceiling) to the position to the right side and the left side (1/3 of the time in each position) from birth.
