Osgood-Schlatter

Orliman proposes the new Pad-Fix patellar support designed and manufactured with the latest advances in materials, whose support is made of silicone infrapatelar getting a perfect fit as joint movement occurs, without losing the mechanical effects of compression desired.

Osgood-Schlatteris one of the most common causes of knee pain in young athletes. It causes swelling, pain and tenderness just below the knee at the tibial tuberosity. It occurs mostly in children who are having a growth spurt during their pre-teen or during adolescence. One or both knees may be affected. Causes, incidence, and risk factors is believed that this disease is caused by small, usually unnoticed injuries, caused by repeated overuse before growth is completed the area. This disorder is seen most often in active, athletic adolescents, usually between the ages of 10 and 15. It is common in adolescents who play soccer, basketball and volleyball, as well as those who practice gymnastics. This disease most often affects men than women, it is also common in adults who play sports especially those in which the jump is repetitive.
Symptoms
The main symptom is painful swelling, symptoms occur in one or both legs. The patient may have knee pain that worsens with running, jumping and climbing escalerass. The area is sensitive to pressure and swelling ranges from mild to very severe.
Treatment
Treatment begins with rest, ice, and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen. In many cases, the condition is improved by using these methods. Where en which do not disappear, you can use a splint or brace to minimize tensions in the quadriceps insertion on the tuberosity of the tibia. Rarely, surgery may be necessary.
Bracing for treatment

The silicone has proven its advantages in the manufacture and design of various prosthetic devices in which the compression or absorption of forces require a memory material to be deformed without losing these properties while loads and joint movements occur. These processes in the manufacture of skirts, templates, patellar impellers, etc are a clear example.
